Professional and community background
A mental health clinician with a regional health authority, Sophia has more than 30 years of public service. From 2011 to 2014, she served as a Vancouver School Board trustee and vice-chair of its finance and legal committee. She advanced school safety code reforms, secured federal support for newcomer family settlement, and explored innovative approaches combining school property and housing. In 2007, she received the Outstanding Chinese Woman Award and was named a Paul Harris Fellow.
